We're excited about the upcoming VW Parade at Oktoberfest this year, and we hope you are too. In case you haven't already, please register your car for the parade. All entrants receive a signed and numbered frameable certificate from the City of Chattanooga proclaiming your participation. Route information now available at volksfolks.org/vwparade.
After the parade, join us at the Chattanooga Market for Oktoberfest, a German celebration featuring live music, beer, food, and a VW show. This year's event has been expanded to two days as well.
Also check out the 2008 OLPH Ram Run, a race benefiting Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School.
Don't forget our next Volks Folks Club Meeting will be held Monday, October 20th at 7:00 PM at the China Moon inside the Eastgate Town Center on Brainerd Road. Everyone is welcome. Hope to see you there!
We will be having our October cruise-in this Friday, October 10th at 7:00 PM. It will be held in the Bi-Lo parking lot in Ooltewah on Lee Highway, exit 11 if you're coming from I-75 N. There's plenty of places to eat in the area, and we've invited both TNDubs and Cool Breeze VW clubs to join us as well.
Visit our discussion thread in our forums for more information, and we hope to see you there!
The leaves are turning and the weather is getting cooler...but don't worry, there's still plenty of VW events going on in October. Here's a sneak peek at what's coming up.
We're planning something a little different for our October Cruise-In. To help kick off the start of cooler weather and because of all the cars we had at the September Cruise-In, we're relocating to the parking lot of the Bi-Lo in Ooltewah. There's plenty of parking and places to eat, and we've invited other local VW clubs in the area such as TnDubs and Cool Breeze VW from Cleveland. Also we've moved the date back to Friday, October 10th at 7:00 PM to avoid conflicting with Circle Yer Wagens. We hope you'll join us for this cruise-in, it's going to be a big one!
Speaking of Circle Yer Wagens it will be October 4-5 in Sevierville, TN. Visit our forum thread if you're interested in making a caravan with us from Chattanooga, there will probably be some people leaving Friday and some people leaving Saturday.
Our October club meeting will be held on Monday, October 20th at 7:00 PM at the China Moon inside the Eastgate Town Center on Brainerd Road. All are invited.
Finally please join us for Oktoberfest at the Chattanooga Market on October 25-26th. This annual German celebration will be expanded to a two-day event and will feature a classic VW car show and for the first time a VW parade. Look for important news on this upcoming event soon.
Just a reminder that our September club meeting is this Monday, September 15th at China Moon starting at 7:00 PM.
China Moon is inside the Eastgate Mall Town Center on Brainerd Road. We welcome visitors to our meetings and offer a chance to get to know the club. We hope you'll join us.
Rest assured, regardless of what you may have been hearing there is no gas shortage in Chattanooga. Last night, apparently spurred by some reports on Rock 105 and US-101, motorists flocked to local gas stations to fill up, in anticipation of a rumored price hike due to the hurricane. Out of fear of running dry, many stations were rationing gas purchases to no more than 10 gallons.
As of Friday morning though, gas prices have not gone up all that much and there still seems to be plenty of supply. WDEF News 12 published an article on gas price facts late last night, to try and quell some of the fears and panic. The bottom line: Hurricane Ike has caused several oil rigs off the coast of Texas to shut down, but that won't have any effect on the gas supply for months.
