A few pictures of our campout at Sloppy Floyd's state park are posted in the gallery under "Events." More will be posted soon. If you took any digital pictures you would like to share, please feel free to add them to that album.
Don't forget that Circle Yer Wagens is coming this weekend. This will will probably be the last show at the current location! For more information, check out our forums or go to avwa.com.
This weekend (September 23-25), the Volks Folks will be camping at Sloppy Floyd State Park just south of Summerville, GA. The campsites are all booked, so if you don't have a reservation yet, you won't be able to get a site. However, everyone is still invited to come hang out with us during the day Saturday. The park has hiking trails, fishing, paddleboats, a playground, or a chance just to kick back in the shade and do nothing!
Everyone who wants an event T-shirt, please bring a plain white or very light colored shirt. We are going to attempt to make event shirts featuring a club photo on site.
Sunday we have a pavilion rented. Even if you aren't camping, please come down Sunday and spend the morning and afternoon with us. The club will furnish lunch - Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Chip, Drinks and all the trimmings. We will start eating about 1:00PM. The only thing you have to pay for is your State Park parking pass for your vehicle ($3.00 per day if you are not camping, $3.00 for the weekend if you are camping).
If you have questions or need directions, please visit our Events Forum.
Our September club meeting is tonight (Monday, September 19th) at 7:00 PM. This will be our first meeting at our new location, the China Moon Buffet in the Eastgate Town Center on Brainerd Road. Please bring the family and come join us for an evening of fun shooting the breeze about anything and everything VW related. You don't have to be a member and you don't have to drive a VW to the meeting. You don't even have to own one . . . just as long as you love 'em, you'll fit right in.
We usually eat and mingle until about 7:30 when we kick off the "business end" of the meeting. On the agenda are VW and club related events of the past month and events coming up in the near future. One very important topic we will discuss is next weekend's campout at Sloppy Floyd State Park (Summerville, GA) Friday and Saturday night and the Volks Folks picnic on Sunday afternoon.
Our September Cruise-In will be held at the Sonic on East Brainard Road (near the corner of East Brainard and Gunbarrel) on Friday evening, September 16th. This is an informal gathering that begins around 7:00 PM. Bring your VW and a folding chair and come hang out with us all evening, or just drop by and say hi! Don't forget to tell them you're with the Volks Folks when you order...we get a 10% discount.

Then be sure and join us for our monthly club meeting at our new location, the China Moon Buffet in the Eastgate Town Center on Brainerd Road. Please bring the family and come join us for an evening of fun shooting the breeze about anything and everything VW related.
China Moon offers an all you can eat buffet with over 150 items to choose from and include several American cuisine selections such as fried chicken fingers, barbeque and French fries. The buffet cost $8.35, children under 10 $4.50 and children under 3 eat free. They also offer a 10% discount to Senior Citizens, but I don't know what their age requirement is for that. Drinks are extra. You don't have to eat there. If you want to eat somewhere else before or after the meeting, that will be fine...come on and join us! There isn't any type of automatic gratuity or banquet charge added to your bill, so don't worry. You won't be charged $5.00 for a couple of cokes with no refills like you may have been at our previous meeting places.

The Labor Day car show at the Walker County Civic Center was an overwhelming success! The show drew in 145 show cars, about 20 more than last year. Had gas not been hovering around $3.00 a gallon, there probably would have been 200 or more cars entered. Everything went smooth thanks to about 20 Volks Folks who came out to help run the show. The show capped off a weekend of activities at the Walker County Civic Center aimed at raising money for the Stocking Full of Love. The money raised by the car show, motorcycle poker run, sock hop and other activities will be used to buy Christmas presents for underprivileged kids who otherwise would not have anything under the tree Christmas morning.
