Nostalgia Trip

This will be a nostalgia trip for me. I first drove a 57 Splitty that belonged to my parents. Thirty horsepower wouldn't push it fast enough to get into trouble with the swing axles. My first VW was a 71 Super Beetle. I still have a set of tire chains for it. You could pass snowplows with chains on the back wheels. Very handy in NY winters. Then there was a clean 69 Bay. The 71 Bay was a rust bucket but with dual port heads and disk brakes it was fun. It cost me $35 and an old 12 string guitar. A 68 Beetle was my last VW. I still have the books. I'd like to get back into VWs in a Vanagon Westy.

Cool! I have a 63 beetle, mostly because I had a 62 way back when, so I understand the nostalgia bit. I smile more in my bug than anything else I have driven in quite a while. Welcome to the forum!

Those sound like some keepers!
I recently got a vanagon that I'm still working on. Prices seem to be going up, so if you find one, jump on it!
