New Vanagon owner

« on: May 03, 2016, 02:23:34 PM »
Hey yall-- new 1980 Vanagon owner and my dad also just purchased a 1981 this Sunday. A friend from Ocoee mentioned the Scenic City Volks to me a few months ago and thought I would reach out.
Both Vanagons came without keys, having trouble finding someone locally in Nashville to cut the keys based on ignition and door codes. Could yall steer me in the right directions to get keys?

Thanks abunch,
Kelly

Look up Lock Stock and Barrel. They are a lock smith service in GA that will cut keys from codes. It might not be the cheapest but it'll get you a key!

There is also a guy on the samba that does lock smith work on VWs. I don't recall his name off hand though.

Edit- http://www.baughmanlock.com or steelersbus on thesamba.

If I can locate any Vanagon blanks in my stash I can fix you up.  I had a bunch of my VW key blanks stolen about 3 years ago and lost a bunch more in a fire last year.  I've still got a lot of VW blanks.  Just not sure if any are Vanagon blanks . . . if I'm not mistaken, Vanagons used a blank that was unique to the Vanagon.  I've got code books and code clippers.  Punching one out from the code isn't a problem . . . IF I have the blanks.

I should have a blank. I ordered a set when I got my vanagon last year. I'll look tonight.
