Clutch cable (?) dropped my clutch pedal (96 Jetta)

« on: January 19, 2017, 08:33:40 AM »
Hey, wanted to ask your guys opinion on a problem I've got about my 1996 Jetta. I was driving it the day before (it's manual) and suddenly my clutch pedal dropped to floor and I was unable to change gears.... So a friend of mine towed me back home, and now I am sitting with a non-drivable Jetta in the garage. I believe that the problem's about the clutch cable which broke (did not have a chance to check it yet). Wanted to check with you guys, what else could be the problem which caused such clutch behavior? Except of the cable that I suspect.
Any thoughts are appreciated!!!!

ps - it's 2.0 L if that matters

Hi, wanted just to let you know that the problem was determined, and it really was the clutch cable. So I went ahead and ordered one (https://www.carid.com/clutch-cables/), so will go ahead and fix it as soon as it gets here.
Cheers!
