Got the brake lights working . Both switches were bad. Drove the ghia up to SAP on Saturday. Was able to score a KG script and a glove box cover for the trunk. Car drove well, and is really quiet. Still haven't got my bumpers in, but drove it any way.  KC

For a dedicated swap meet that was just miles from home, you didn't seem to spend much time there... I'm surprised you were swapping stuff!

I needed the time to clean out garage and finish fixing ghia. Also I hate setting up / selling in rain... Don't do business on Sunday so options were limited on Saturday...

OK,
I installed the AM Radio from the ASBug in the Ghia, it is a Blaukput.
Sourced an underdash Blaukput 8 track unit from FleaBay.
Git the wiring all figured out and Viola it works.
Still have to get it mounted under the dash and get the interaction between the AM radio's controlled speaker ground and the 8 tracks speaker feeds are grounded to body...
Think I will just be running the 8 track for the time being.

get a good picture of it at the battlefield for the calendar. I don't know how long its been since we had a ghia in the calendar.

***EDIT*** looks like February- Donna's ghia is behind my bus. But still, I can't recall having just a ghia solo shot.

I'll get a Glamour Shot of Jenny.
I do not get to the battle field much any more, but I'll try to get it out over the weekend and get some shots if it doesn't rain.
Thanks.

Nice.
Oh well.
I am re-inheriting an '88 S-10 that I gave my mom in '98.
246K on a 4 cyl and it still runs well.
Gonna decide what to do with it...

OK,
I got the S-10 back home last night.
It hadn't been started in 3 months and fired right up, no smoke, no drama, etc.
Mom had the oil changed 1 year ago and has racked up a total of 300 miles in the last year.
When I gave it to her (in 2000), it had ~150K miles on it, it now has ~285K miles on it.
It has never had the engine opened up, the only leaks it has now is the valve cover.
I got the blower working (bad switch) and the heat works great. AC will require me to replace the switch, not just bypass it like I have it rigged now...
It has the massive 2.5L 4 banger in it with a 5 speed.
I was really surprised as to how well it drove home.
The driver's window is off the regulator, and is held up by some door wedges that my mom has pressed in... LOL.
I traded a 1954 ford for this truck back in 1993 when it had ~78K miles on it.
Never thought I would have it again.
I told mom that when she "blew it up" I would like to have the frame to put an early chevy truck body on (my obsession at the time). It has never "blown up"...
Mom's kept the maintenance up on it, new alternator, and had it tuned up a couple of years ago with new plugs wires, New tires this year, etc...
The exhaust mani is cracked, and the aforementioned gasket leak seem to be the only issues under the hood...
Gotta decide what to do with it... but it is nice to have a truck again.
I'll get a pick after I wash it, it literally has not been washed in about 4 years.

This is gonna be a tough trade, this is the vehicle that my wife and I dated in.
Has a long bench seat and she would cozy up to me coming back from the movies, etc.
I might just keep it for nostalgia's sake...
But it has been an old farm truck for the past 14 years and the upholstery is shot, and the dash pad is like a dry lake pattern of cracks at this point.
If I can get the AC ressurected (I think the switch will fix it), I might keep it and slowly put it back to coolness again. Still rocking the bugflector and the Z28 wheels I put on it "back in the day" one of the ventshades has been removed by a branch and it had a minor run in with a deer a while back, but the dents are pretty tame...
I was surprised that the parts are still pretty cheap for this truck.

S-10 is sitting a lot, but I have:
-Resurrected the AC / Heat. It is a straight dope R12 unit, never been converted and gets cool but cold it isn't... Heat is nice though.
Cleaned up and out the truck and it actually looks WAY better.
Went over the z-28 wheels with a brilo pad and they look great again.
Put some new speakers in the dash, (they were dry rotted) and dug out a period correct Kenwood AM/FM Tape Deck and threw in there - rocking to my mix tapes again.
I have had 2 people flag me down to buy it, that is reassuring.
Pulled the bedliner out to check for rust (none) and had a surprise; I found a magnet I had bought in France in 1993 stuck to the inside of the bed, under the liner. That was a nice surprise.

Any way, replaced the PCV valve and some other little stuff to help with crank case pressure.  It was stuck closed; combined with a rotten oil fill cap seal is where my oil leak was. I have pressure washed the muck off the engine, so I can see if it is leaking any where else.
It looks like mom has never changed the plugs, cap, rotor or wires in 15 years so that will be my next task.  It seems to be still getting ~25 mpg.
Gotta get a new Speedo and figure out why the gas gauge is intermittent.

Gotta get a new Speedo and figure out why the gas gauge is intermittent.

Sounds familiar . . .

My 84 S-10 has a bad speedo (jumps around all the time, makes loud noises when cold, trip odometer doesn't work) and gas gauge is partially bad.  It shows way past full if it has more than a quarter of a tank.  At about a quarter, it drops back on the scale and starts working and is pretty accurate for the last few gallons.
