Look what followed me home today!
it is on a shortened 61 pan with a 40 hp and swing axel trans.
I am trying to ID the body and that is a pain.
any one on here seen one like it in the past. it is fairly thick and has alot of formed in bracing.

Got the 40 HP un stuck pretty easily.
PO swears he was running it about 5 years ago.

It looks like one of hundred's of Manx knock-offs. You may never know who made the body.  I had a Manx years ago and your Buggy is a little different .  Looks good.

It's real close to a Manx . . . but the nose is different.  Unless you can find a tag on it, like RetBugtech said, it might be impossible to identify.  It might not have even been made in a factory.

I had a Manx clone once.  From the outward appearance, it matched a Manx exactly in every detail, but it wasn't a true Meyers Manx.  It was thinner than a Meyers, it was missing the reinforment tubes under the sides and a couple of other minor details that a true Manx would have.  I think mine was one of the thousands of knock-offs that people made in their back yards . . . they would buy a Meyers kit, pull molds from the Manx pieces and then pop out 4 or 5 copies to help finance their project.

Add that to the fact that there were thousands of small companies churning out fiberglass buggies back in the early 70s . . .

This one is VERY well made, it has the formed reinforcements behind the rear panels and such.  IF I keep it, I am going to try to get it going before the Ringgold Christmas Parade and drive it dressed up as Santa. I am going to play the Beach Boy's songs "Little Saint Nick" and "Run, Run Reindeer" blaring.
Those little narrow fiberglass racing seats are in great condition, but my fat arse get's wedged in them when I sit down.  When I was 16 and pencil thin It would have been great, but now my hip bones dig into the frame and it is uncomfortable.
I am thinking of getting a small truck bench seat and put in it for the front.

Albert has seats from a Mazda P.U. and they are very comfy. Nice thing about them was that they will bolt to VW seat frames with 4 little clamps.

My mazda has a bench seat with the cut out for the shifter that I think would be the bomb in this, then I could theoretically hold all of Chez Mathews in the buggy.

OK, this is even quick for me.
I have sold the buggy to 77bronco.
I did find out that the majority of the buggy enthusiests think the buggy is called a scatt catt buggy made in N.C.
Just an FYI.

OK, OK-
I know it is a habit, but.....
THE BUG AND THE BUS ARE GONE!

I have no photos, but I traded them for a 2004 GMC Sierra SLT Quadcab 4X4 with Quadratrack steering.
It is in pretty good shape and I traded with a guy from the GA. Dubs website.
For the $'s I had in them, it is a GREAT deal.
This thing is a Hoss.
(It has a 6.0l engine, so I will not be driving it much... ;D)
But I will not need to call on my buds to move my tractor or go get another VW again...
HummmZenmmm....
Any way just another deal of many...
KC
Oh yea, I did have to give him the Molly Hatchet 8-tracks though!
I kept the rest.
LOL.

There was an error while liking
