I probably have a serviceable 85.5 piston and cylinder still matched up. Are you looking for a set or just one? If just one, you can have one of these I got.

@ Nick:
I'll take it.
I'm gonna post some stuff in the WTB section as well.
Let me know whe I need to hook up with you.
I have no idea where you live other than Cattanooga.
I'll bring the 009 when I come to get the piston / cyl.
Do you have a set of rings on that puppy?
Thanks.

@ David
The damage seems to be limited to the cyl itself 1" or so nearest the sparky, the corrosion on the 2 compression rings was what broke 'em.  I got the oil ring out great. I could probably run the cyl, but it's smoke and wear the rings faster.

Thanks again,
KC

Use  the piston and cyl. that Nick has as a matched unit because of the different sizes: 85.45 ,  85. 46,  85.47.    Smaller piston and a bigger  cyl. might give you a nice case of piston slap.

Well... tonight is the committee meeting for the show. I could get it Zen if you need it ASAP. My address is in membership directory. I live very close to the Sonic where we have the cruise-ins.

@ nick: I'll just come up and get it one evening if your good with that.
I didn't bring the 009 to work today.
@ david: I remember the piston on mine were marked 85.46 and were VW pistons. Case has the Reman marks on the original #'s were ground off and a letter A.
all the other cyl look good and are shiney till the top 1/4" or so.
engine appears to have ran PIG RICH prior to being shut down.
Pistons cleaned up well.
Thanks,
KC

Body is solid, Heat Channels look good.  Some pinholes on the bottom of the drivers rear and front fenders and along bottom of front apron.
Gonna MIG it back w/o bondo.
I will be painting it although my two oldest girls have begged me to keep it this color.
I need floorpans, could possibly get away with just the back 1/2's but wanted to see what was out there.
Have the original owners manual with dealer buisnes card from Knoxville, TN.
Needs an engine, but I have a 1600 DP for it.
Needs front calipers and hoses, tires, steering wheel (I have the Superior 500 walnut), clutch.
Was originally Ravina Green (35).  This is the same color as my '75 bus is now.
Was painted (correctly) two times PINK...
Came with a set of Baja steelies with rotten tires, put the Rivi's from my stock pile.
Enjoy!

Thanks,
KC

I have some yellow and white paint and I am thinking of the same paint scheme that Dubnut had on the old Ghia he had.
Otherwise I'll get some Ravina Green Rustoleum tinted and paint the girl OEM.
I am going to paint the top white and the body green if I go this route.
I'll use the left over paint to paint the bus the matching color.
Then I'll have a pair!

Use the piston and cyl from Nick.  Cyl's have no markings. That engine won't know the difference between a 85.45 or a 85.46. You don't want to use a 85.46  piston in a 85.45 cyl or vice versa.

Plan on cutting the pipes off the front.
Can you fit early bumpers to the late mounts easily?
I remember from the other Ghia I had that T3 and Ghia bumpers are the same.
Thanks for all the encouragement.
I'm giving serious consideration to buffing the pink down to the grey primer underneath and clear coating it and calling it "Pink Lady" (ala Grease.) It looks alot like that 4 door studebker they drove...

Leave it pink. It's so much prettier pink  8)

Besides, real men love Jesus and wear pink, why not ad "drive a pink car" to it?

Dug out the p/c I was thinking of. It is clean but has two fins broken off of the top two layers. It's just the corners and doesn't seem to affect the rest of it, but I will let you know beforehand. I probably have more but they are all covered up an possibly mismatched. Need a cleaning too. I'll take it to the meeting tonight and ask zen if he will see you anytime soon. If so, I'll send it. Otherwise, I will hang on to it.
