KC is to far gone now Grasshopper. All we can do is pray for him now.
KC I just saw the post where you were talking about parking lot racing . These are call Auto-Crosses and were staged by the local chapter of the SCCA
These were a blast to run. I use to run a Formula V with a big bad ass stroker
blue printed Type-1  1850cc, C-35 Scat cam, 041 heads , Twin 40mm Webers.  This car was beat just once in the 5 years I owned it and was the Southeast SCCA champion Solo-2 car for 4 years. That was a long time ago. I don't think I could drive that car now without scaring the wee-wee out of my selve . I need to post some photos.

Yes, you do.  I remember seeing some of those you showed me many years ago.  Now, it is uber cool because Amanda's family has always been really big into SCCA and her brother has run the local autocrosses for years.

Should have clarified, Nashville area when she was growing up.  Her brother moved down here a number of years ago, and, like i said, he has been really involved locally.  His name is Scott Dobler.

I like having a lady by my side who understands that i can't explain why i do what i do.  She is actually pushing me and keeping me on course to get the double cab going to preserve my limited amount of sanity.

OK,
I got this '65 3 weeks ago and it is a beast.
I decided to name it "Ugly Betty"

I'll get more Photos soon, but here are some teasers:
- PO had taped up the inside and bondoed over this mess. Top holes were cut with tin snips. messy.
- Bottom of apron had hit somthing, rest seems OK and accident free.  This is after 15 min with a block of wood and some ball peen hammers of various sizes...
- Tears in the spare tire area after being re radiused.  Will weld and grind...
- Rear had similar abominations as front where PO thought to cut apron with cut off wheel and then stoped, luckaly it isn't through at the bottom- weld weld weld.
- 1600 DP that is going in - Have the 1300 brest tin and breather for this engine. Ceramic muffler. Has a late 1300 trannie, so 200 mm flywheel is no prob.
-  2 fold (non '63 type) rag My daughter LOVES this car. I expect this will cause some discussin', but some buds and I cannot find where this car was seamed.

More:
- In all her "ugly" glory
- face lift, w/ plastic surgery...
- PO was a Hack!

Glad she's mine though!

This is how I got her in November for Alabama....

Some of the cancer:

Have welder will travel:

How she looks now:

The headlights are not changing and the driver's light works when it wants.

I will test the switch in the column as well as the relay if I can figure out how it is testable (high low relay...)

The yellow looked ALOT like School Bus Yellow in the paint store (what I wanted...) but when I painted it on it is the EXACT same color as the naugahyde seat covers, so it kinda ties it together....

These MAY be available:
(they are on hold to see if our Iowa buddy wants them...)

NO BONDO in the second (non blue) 1968 bus. Doglegs are great in it as well.  Just has rust in the front floor boards and on bottom of nose.
This one is in better shape than the '70 I just did.
The other is a '70 that is missing alot but is still saveable (no engine / Trannie.)

The '68 has a trannie, but no engine.
Both have almost complete interiors (no sink / Icebox).

I transformed my '70's body in four 12 hour days, this one will be easier.

I want $1250.00 for both of them.

Bill of Sales for these and I'll provide my BOS as well for you to get a title in TN.

Hit me up for more info.

Notice that the '68 has no rear vent window.
It also has the nicer rear seat with the stays for holding it up...

'Bye bye '65..... :(
Hello '71 Jap 1302 RHD!  ;D

More pics tommorow, but it has an "AB" block in it (I checked it isn't an AE).  Cannot id the origin, thinking this might be the OEM engine for Japaneese Delivery.  Is a DP now, haven't checked to see if it is a dual relief case yet, it is late and I am tired. Engine is the Cleanest non new VW engine I have ever seen.

Car has 19K miles on it since it was imported in and they changed the Speedo / ODO.
It is a wierd bird...
Alot has been shaved on the dash (radio, ashtray, fresh air box, holes in hood...)
I have to determine if this stuff was ever there.  Who ever shaved it did a GREAT JOB, all metal, no fiber or bondo. There is just a couple of MINOR rust bubles along the rain strip and on one door skin.

Drove it 2 hrs back from B'ham at 60 -65 mph.  I-59 is a booring drive.

It was difficult to get into the rythmn of driving on the wrong side of the lane.
By Gadston, it was almost second nature.

Stoped by the sonic in Ringgold to get some grub with my girls (support crew) and had two people come up and give it the wierdest look.
It was hilarious to have people pass me and do a double take on the passengers seat of the RHD.

Any way, It was worth the drive and I am happy.
Will have to rebuild something in it though, got squrrelly 3 times when I would hit a bump on a left hand curve. Wheee!

Just found a post on the Samba, AB = 1300DP (44HP), JDM market and some of the European countries.
