If your cable stretched would mean you would gain "free-play" at the pedal. The transmission would be harder to shift because the clutch wouldn't release enough to keep from grinding the gears.

I just like to know what causes things to happen to see if I can prevent it happening again.

That old disc looks like one from a GAS Rabbit. smaller Dia.  190mm??  Whats the dia. of your new one ?   I have forgotten just about everything I knew about Rabbits

I bet the new one is 200mm or 210mm and the old is a 190mm. Dang Travis, You are to tall . look closer ;D ;D ;D
