71 ghia

« on: October 12, 2013, 06:50:59 PM »
Guess I'll start a tread for this one,  plan on hanging onto it for a while.  Some one shaved the chrome emblems and trim,  not excited about that,  probably have to redo the holes when it gets painted,  some one soldered wires the the ignition switch and cut the originals,  won't start with out jumping wires,  dash was covered with vinyl but it looks like the radio hole is original,  now to find the correct radio.  Need to redo the brakes,  flush and repair fuel system

Trying to get an 8 track player for mine, let me know if you find one at that junkyard.

Always hitting yard sales,  I'll be on the lookout, I found tapes at the goodwill but never really looked for players

Things that need to happen,  ignition switch not working ,  original wires cut and new ones soldered in,  may have to rob stuff off the other ghia,  has electric fuel pump,  the block looks like it was plugged some how, no block off plate.  Brakes need to be redone

If it was a fuel injected block, it would not have had a hole for the pump, but the flat spot would still be there.

Nope, it would have to be a later (~75) block to be FI. What is the 1st bit of the engine number?

Got insurance on the ghia,  6 bucks a month for 3000 coverage ,  if I get it looking better I guess I can always up the insurance,  now to get it running and stopping
