Type 3 Karmann Ghia - Are they really all that rare?

« on: December 31, 2001, 10:31:51 PM »
OK, I know this isn't exactly the right place to post a question, but another Type 3 Ghia has surfaced on our forum . . .

The first one was mentioned on our old forum by VWHerbSon and Letsbuggy has unearthed another!  Seems like both were pretty much abandoned to return the earth as iron oxicide unless someone would take the time to drag them home and breath live back into them.  So . . . Are either of these still availible?  Do either of you intend to do anything with them?  If y'all don't have dibs on them, would you care to share more information?

These cars a pretty rare, especially here in the US.  VW never sold them here.  Most of ours either came down from Canada or were brought here by individuals who bought them in Europe.  It'd be nice to see one sporting a set of Volks Folks magnets!   :alien:

It's hard to believe someone would haul a good VW of any kind to the scrap yard, especially a model as rare as this one . . . but it STILL happens!  I hope you can get a hold of it and save it from rusting away, or worse, being crushed!

Maybe the one Travis found down in south AL has some parts you could use?  Anything on that one Travis?

Hey Zen, if I make it to the next VW meeting around here I'll try to see if I can talk to the guy that told me about it
