Sorry about that. I don't understand why it was canceled last minute; seemed like all the rain was gone and I could only see blue skies... They sent out an email rescheduling it for next Saturday- same bat time, same bat place.

Why'd y'all go if you heard it had been postponed?

Sorry if the notice was late, I was coming back home from vacation today. I got the email this afternoon from the parks and rec lady that it had been cancelled. Once my turn to drive was over, I did my best from my phone to get the word out about the cancellation. Website, email, forum, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Judging from her decision to cancel tonight, I expected we'd be arriving in town during a huge storm. Got home around 7:30 and everything was surprisingly clear.

At least if it's next week I should be able to go!

???  OK Russ, let me lay the timeline out a little better so I don't seem like a total idiot! The last I had heard, they said it was on "unless it was pouring down rain."  I went there.  THEN I heard it was postponed.   ;D :D

I left the house about 4 and went to the cabin to get the kiddie car.  Then I had to swing by the car wash and spray it off.  I ran back to the house took a quick shower and headed out about 6.  IF I had of taken the time to check my email or the internet before I left, I would have seen it was postponed . . . but it wasn't "pouring down rain" so I didn't check.  The notifcation was out in time to stop me, but I didn't take the time to look at it.   8)

It wasn't a total waste . . . I did get the kiddie car out of the building and get it washed off.  I'll probably leave it on the truck until next weekend.  And, while I was there I met a guy from Germany who works for VW.  He said he would be here another year, then he's going back home.  I gave him a club card and invited him to come hang out with us sometime.

Well, if Chatt P&R wants this thing to be a success, they need to study the radar a little more closely. The weather was great all evening around there. It MIGHT rain any day until October.  I'd rather get caught in a pop-up shower than drive all the way there just to find out its cancelled. Next time, movie-goers are liable to just stay home.

As I said while standing in the parking lot (shading my eyes from the sun), this area has become waaaaay too afraid of a little rain. Do you think that in the Midwest they hunker in their bunkers all summer? No.

I definitely have to agree with that. Cancelling seemed awful premature, plus there's no guarantee the weather this Saturday will be any better.

She wants to know if Fielding and Zen will commit to having their cars there again this Saturday though, so lemme know.

I'll try.  I've still got the kiddie car on the back of my truck.

It sucks that they did it, BUT if you recall the Sugarland concert that was two years ago tomorrow, the event planners DIDN'T cancel the event and the storm did blow through and the stage collapsed and 7 killed people. I can understand how its easier to cancel something (especially if it is a free public event vs a private venture trying to make money) than to risk having people out in bad weather. Could the retro movie night have been a success two days ago? Sure, but it can also be a success next week too.

Hate that ya'll headed out without getting the notice.

My only complaint about the whole thing isn't that they called it off due to the weather 4 hours before it started . . . it's that they announced earlier in the day that it was on "unless it was pouring down rain," THEN called it off while the sun was out.  They should have said something like "Check back for updates. The movie may be postponed depending on the weather."  If they had said something like that, I would have checked to make sure it was on before I left the house.

But it's all good.  I've got the kiddie car loaded up, so I don't have to worry about that next weekend.   8)

Is Fielding aware of the date change and is he coming?

I told him. He seemed ok with it. His reply was "Ok"

Fair enough. I'm glad we aren't paying to see this movie...

Thanks Nick!

I'm sorry I couldn't get the word out sooner that it was cancelled. She sent me the email around 2:15 when I was still driving back. Around 5:25 was the first chance I had to use my phone and send out notices.

I talked to Fielding on the phone while I was at the riverpark Saturday evening.  He knew it had been postponed until next weekend . . . I don't think he actually said so, but I got the impression he was planning on coming.

Based on the number of people who showed up looking for it, word got in time for everyone.  Except for me and Anthony.  And Rusty and Donna.  And a German guy who works for VW and his son.  At least there weren't hundreds of folks wondering around looking for movie!
