The Retro Movie Night at the Tennessee Riverpark will be Saturday, Aug. 17.

There will be a VW Car Cruise-In, contests and games at 8 p.m. The movie will begin at dark with free admission. There will be a tie die shirt contest (for adults and youth), and games for the whole family.

The Cruise-In is presented by the Scenic City Volks Folks Club, featuring a replica "Herbie" Car. Concessions will be available.

I've heard conflicting stories on this event . . . is it at Coolidge Park or the River Park?

Will there be power available near where we are parking?  I doubt I'll have Homer going by then, but I could bring my kiddie car Bug and set it for free rides.

I'm the programming specialist for Hamilton Co. Parks and Recreation Dept. We are considering showing the classic movie the Love Bug for our Movie at the Riverpark on Saturday,August 10th and I thought that someone in your club has one of the replicas they may be willing to bring so people could check it out and we would love some of the more wimsical bugs you have to come as well... We also have a concessions that night so we would locate the cars in a higly visible area.Please have some contact me asap with a yes or a no...thank you!

She wrote me back with a lot of good info. And she said yes to the power for Zen's kiddie car, but he has to share that with the concessions lady. I doubt that will be a problem.

Now that we have all this nailed down, I'm gonna try and promote this more! It sounds like a fun time and it's all free. Unfortunately I'll be out of town on vacation so I can't make it but I wish I could.

pm...in the Maintenance Field next to our building....I have sent out
PSA's Today...I could not however open your logo but your groups name
and what I am calling your cruise in event is mentioned along with the
Herbie Car coming. Our web page is Hamiltontn.gov and it will be under
the Hot Topics section...also on Facebook and Twitter today....love the
kiddie car and yes we can have power for it but he has to share that
with the concession lady but it should not be an issue...I plan to block
off a good portion of the parking lot for the club cars which will be in
the cruise in only...all others will have to park in the visitor parking
or get there early enough to get in the other side...and they must be
willing to have their cars touched etc. and I will have to have waivers

Received word today that unless it's pouring down rain tomorrow night, they will be showing the movie. Otherwise they will cancel and the rain date is scheduled for Saturday, August 17th at 8:00 PM.

Yeeeeesssss, its raining where I'm at, BUT after this line passes, it looks like just a possibility of little spotty showers. Hopefully things will go smoo...

Well, I actually went down to my cabin, pulled the kiddie car out of the storage building, loaded on my truck by myself and made it to the Riverpark before 7:30.  Couldn't find a movie, but I found Anthony who was also looking for the movie. Then Rusty and Donna showed up looking for the movie.  Then a German guy from VW and his son showed up looking for the movie . . . The sky was beautiful for the 30 minutes or so that I was there.

One of the grounds keepers came by on a golf cart and asked if were were looking for the movie . . . we told him we had already heard they had postponed it until next weekend.  Anthony asked him which end of the park it would be on and he said he didn't really know, they had always do them at Coolidge Park, but they wanted to try it at the Riverpark for some reason this time.
