Memorial Day Car Show

« on: May 24, 2010, 08:05:01 PM »
The Johnny Wolfe Memorial Open Car Show, sponsored by the Harrison Ruritan Club, is this Sunday, may 30th from 8 AM to 3PM. It's held at the Tennessee River Park on Amnicola Highway in Chattanooga.

Registration is from 8-12 and judging begins at noon. It's an open car show but if we have enough VWs attend they will add a VW class.

For more information and a registration form: http://www.orgsites.com/tn/harrison-ruritan/_pgg1.php3

Pre-registration: $20, day of: $25

This is a great opportunity to rep our club in Chattanooga, and they have promised to add a VW class if enough show up. There's also an award for best club participation.

Several of us went last year and had a good time. We made some good contacts and found some good bargains. When I talked to the guy over the show, he said if we could get several V-dubs to come, he would make a VW class. Think it over, pack a cooler and come on down.

I've been to this show and it was a blast. (15 yrs ago in a 1965 Mustang.)  They had ALOT of door prizes.

It was miserably hot though out in the open.

If I hadn't scheduled 15 people at the house on Monday I would come to this one.
I had forgotten about it untill this thread.

Good Show.

Great time today!  We had lots of fun and won lots of trophies...Mike/Deb for the rat rod, Donna/Rusty for the Ghia, David for his green Thing ( ???), Russ for his new notchback, another soon-to-be member for his black beetle (sorry, I don't know his name yet), Travis/Larry for Larry's '55 Olds, and.....drum roll please...we got the trophy for best club participation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It rained just enough to be irritating at times, but not enough to chase us away.   This was the first year for a VW class and I suspect it will be a permanent addition.
A good time was had by all!
