Also, this year's Parade Grand Marshal will be...Oreo the Goat, a famous folk hero that belongs to a family in East Ridge. Oreo was evicted from his home thanks to the city's "no farm animals" law since his family resides in the city limits.

thats freaking awesome. I love it when commissioners make stupid decisions and everyone else embraces the parties effected. I love rooting for the underdog. This is gonna be great!!!

Only in East Ridge !!  My now gone Banjo playing Buddy Bob Johnson use to raise Pigmy goats. Cute as hell and just like a bunch of Golden Retriever  puppies. Follow you everywhere wanting to play.

I'd like to participate as well - would like to let some kids ride in the back of the single cab.  Is there still time to join?  Hopefully not too late....


Be sure and let us know if you plan to attend so we can get an accurate count on our application form.

Mainx24 2012 Southside Holiday Parade
Saturday, December 1, 11 am - Noon
EVENT RULES AND REGULATIONS
GENERAL
1. NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE: Parade applicants approved by parade committee will be notified by email by the last weekend of November. Participants are asked to confirm participation at the time of notification.
2. ENTRIES AND DÉCOR: Entries decorated to celebrate holiday themes from all nationalities, cultures, faiths, and flavors are welcome and encouraged to participate. Decoration is not required however, entries are encouraged to display organization/business name clearly as to be visible to onlookers.
3. ENTRIES NOT ACCEPTABLE: There is no limit to the number of floats or vehicles per entry. However, if an entry is considered hazardous or offensive by the parade committee, the entry will be disqualified to participate. For safety reasons, no vehicles with “gun” engines or that squeal tires are allowed.
PARADE
4. PARADE ASSEMBLY: Staging will begin PROMPTY AT 10am on Rossville Ave in front of Chenoweth . Halligan Studios located at the corner of Rossville Avenue & Washington St. Entries must check in at Chenoweth . Halligan Studios and be present to be included in the lineup.
5. LINEUP: The parade line up order shall be assigned by the parade committee.
6. START TIME: The parade will begin promptly at 11am, Saturday, December 1, from the corner of Jefferson Street and Rossville Ave. The parade will run from that intersection, up Jefferson Street to Main Street, where it will turn left and head up Main Street to the intersection of Main and Williams Street, where it will end.
7. MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT: There is no minimum age requirement for participants riding in vehicles/ floats. However, for liability reasons, minimum age requirement for walking units will be 12
years old, no exceptions. All children must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or supervising adult.
8. ANIMALS: Any and all animals (such as dogs) featured in parade entry must be secured and controlled by leash. Horses in the parade should be experienced in former parades and wear diapers if at all possible. Be advised: loud noises, I.e. sound –of sirens, and loud music are a part of the parade. No violent or skittish animals are allowed.
9. PARADE ROUTE: The procession will be led by fire and police department vehicles. There will be no diversion from the route.
10. NO STOPS: No stopping, unless authorized by the parade committee, is allowed along the route.
11. HANDOUTS. Candy and other handouts may be passed out but are not to be thrown to parade viewers.

Jens, you are welcome to join! There is still room, show up at the meeting point at 10:00 (1800 Rossville Ave) and you'll be directed to the group of VWs.
