I remember the pinewood derby races. Those were the best.
Did you turn polish the axles and turn the wheels to make them perfectly round? And add just the right amount of weight?
Before I was officially in scouts, my brother got to race and he wanted a pre-cut car. We ended up with an extra block that they had provided him and I got to make mine. It was simple- we cut the front lower like a hood and flipped that piece back over the blocky cock-pit to make a truck. On race day, I brought mine along and it ended up beating everyone's during the pre-race fun! I still have it somewhere, but its minus a wheel. A few years later I won two years in a row. Those were the days!!!
