If you haven't visited the Volks Folks page on Facebook in a while, we have been upgraded to the new timeline layout. One of the new features is milestones, we can add notable dates in history and they show up like posts. If you look to the right you can go back through the years, I added a few dates like the first meeting on February 17, 1998, the first Show-n-Shine, the first Bug-a-Paluza at Camp Jordan, and the VW parade in 2008.

If you can think of any other significant dates in the club's history, please let me know! For instance, the dates of the first two Bug-a-Paluzas held at the dealer before we moved to Camp Jordan. And just anything else you can think of. Pictures too if you have them. Having all the club's history in one spot will be pretty neat.

Does anyone know the dates for the first two Bug-a-Paluzas held at the dealer in 1999 and 2000? Or at least just the month, were they in July like the show and shine?

Nope. It only takes one show on asphalt in July to figure out that's a bad idea!  Bug-A-Paluza was set for the third weekend in April to give an open week between our show and Circle Yer Wagens . . . and ever since then it's been on the third weekend in April excpet for one time (maybe two) that Easter fell on that weekend.

Ok that's what I needed to know, couldn't find it written down anywhere.

So the first Bug-a-Paluza was April 16th, 1999 and Bug-a-Paluza 2 was April 21, 2000?

I found my "First Annual Bug-A-Paluza" T shirt . . . it says April 25, 1999.  I've got a Bug-A-Paluza 2 Dash Plaque that is dated April 30, 2000.

Oh, I'll update that then...thanks. I also managed to find on archive.org a handful of BP3 pics. They are just thumbnails though so you can barely see them, but it's better than nothing.

Any other old stuff you might have from the early days would be helpful, I've tried to add as much as I can to the timeline on Facebook. If nothing else, it's neat having a comprehensive history in one place.

There is an older couple that used to be fairly active in the club and they came to a couple of meetings last year . . . I can't for the life of me remember their names, but I think they have some pictures they shot with their 35mm.  He had a white Thing and a couple of Bugs that he sold to Herb about 10 years ago. . . .   ???  I'm just drawing a blank on their names . . .

No, it's not the Taylors.  They came to one or two meetings before Bug-A-Paluza last year.  They were going to help with games and activities, but something happened and they ended up not being able to.  I can picture them . . . I know I know their names . . . this is driving me crazy!   ???
