Suppose I had a struttt and a tire

How much clearance should a strut and a tire have?  i can slide a piece of budlite card board between my new rims and tires.  2 or 3 mm>?

That's pretty close,  you could run them and see if the tire rubs the dirt and or paint off the strut,  if the tire looses air it may start rubbing,

That's WAAAAYYYY to close for comfort, even in "The Triangle."  So, I would probably try it and see what happens.   8)

All right   Definite maybe,    I got 4volvo tire and rims at the dump$130,   The back are cool.  Fronts rubbed.  Stuck some spacers.  Rims fit. 2 mm clearance.  Nuts are near 70 percent on the lug bolts.   Seems to roll ok.  Drove 40 mile today.   Seems triangle safe.

I'm assuming you used some fender washers

For fine adjustments, cut out shims from a beer can.  You'll need lot's of shims, so this job is going to require drinking a lot of beer first.   8)

Spacers are store bought.  They didn't fit.  Walleyed them out with a drill to get the ring over the bolts rite

Update.  The wheels kept coming loose an throwing lugs at what ever speed lugs fly off at.   Even had a wheel fall off in front of Walmart.   I've added nail polish to the lugs and they appear to stay stuck. Victory is mine

OMG. Forget the lock tight,  I'm switching to nail polish now,  you could also use it to mark the location of the lots so you can tell when they start backing out

What color nail polish though? I hope it matched the car.
