Danielle from American Pickers

« on: January 10, 2013, 09:58:57 AM »
Hey!! Has anyone thought about talking with Danielle at the World of wheels show and maybe see if she or one of the other Guys might wan't to come / appear at bugapaluza this Year. One of those guys says that he loves VWs, They always show his Singlecab at their store. + they have a shop in Nashville anyway. That would make a great episode watching them comb through the swap. Ideas?? :redbay: ???

I think that by someone saying something and getting info at the World of Wheels, is how Von Hot Rod started coming to the Show :redbay:

We had talked about paying Von Hot Rod to come to the show to increase visits, I thought about this earlier last year when Zen was going over to talk to them at their store, but why don't we offer them some Dough?
I personally think that it could be a win / win.  They would have more interest in coming and we could possibly get some national advertisements via the history channel.
Just a thought, but I bet if we advertised that they were going to be there we would get a bigger crowd than with the VHR appearance.
Just my $0.02,

I like this idea! They would definitely be a huge hit and possibly bring their show with them, although I'm sure that they have a "filming season" and a non-filming season. If they are filming, they probably already have arrangements for the show. If they aren't, then they probably won't have all the film crew on hand to do a normal show. I've seen where they went to Sturgis, and that's in August, so I would bet they don't film for 6 months.

Either way, I'd love to see them pick through the vending area and we could even have a contest related to them and picking! It could be cool  8) 8)

It has allot of cross over vending potential. you will have the VW "picker" fans as well as the plain "picker" fans.
If we are asking them to come, (they probably get allot of requests...) we should stand out.  Even if it was folding money to get them here, we should reap allot of extra $'s from entrance fees and even "photos with the crew" or something like that.
Seeds have been planted, if this dude is as big of a VW fan as he claims and he has traveled the US then I bet he may have heard of our show already...

Danielle didn't do the WOW for free...
We should do this quickly if it is interesting to any one, they probably plan their trips far in advance and we are already in the 1st quarter of the year...

I'll talk to her tomorrow (if I can get there during her performance hours). I believe when Zen met him, they immediately got to talking about Zen's shirt because he was wearing a bugapaluza shirt. I believe Zen gave him a bag full of that year's show shirts. He HAS to be aware. Its just a matter of reminding a busy person that they need to come to this one.

I should be down there Friday also,  I'll say something also.  Not sure how it would work but we could post stuff on their Facebook page,  just an idea.

I personally delivered Mike Wolfe a Bug-A-Paluza T-shirt (actually, 5 of them) on December 30, 2011.  The bag also had some of our business cards in it.  He said he had two of VWs in Nashville and would love to come if he could work it into his schedule.

He's a VW FANATIC . . . The seed has been planted . . . just needs to be watered every now an then.  I think we need to send them a sponsorship package.

Antique Archeology in Nashville.  I found out the store was opened through their web site before they ever talked about it on American Pickers.  He posted on Facebook and one afternoon that he would be at the Nashville store from noon until 4PM the next day.  I got held up in traffic because of a big pile-up on the interstate and didn't get there until about 2:30 . . . there was a line a half mile long out the door.  I got inside around 3:30 and I think it was around 5:00 when I finally got to the front of the line . . . he saw my Bug-A-Paluza shirt and kicked into high gear.  He started talking VWs and I think he would have talked for hours . . . but there were folks in line behind me that were starting to give me the evil eye, so I gave him a bag of shirts and told him to pick out what he wanted and give the rest to his staff, got my picture made and left before I got linched.  The line was longer when I left than when I got there.  I don't know how long he stayed, but he didn't get out of there at 4 like he had planned.

Liv got sleepy so Joy had taken her back to the car before we got to the front of the line, but we did get a picture of her on the Von Dutch VW motorcycle before she bailed . . .

how about making him an offer that if he will come to the show you can send a bunch of vws to his place for a day.  not a bad trip to nashville.  good for both? not to be negative but it may be too late for this year but sure is a great idea.  even better if the club could go when filming and be there when he returned from a "picking trip"  as a surprise from danielle or something.  I know i am not a member yet so pardon  me for making comments but just can't help it
