I'm with you Scott.  Calling that car a Beetle ?   Give me a break. Whats scary is the dang thing was designed in the state of fruits and nuts. I can't figure VW out anymore since they started building Japanese, Korean and Chinese cars.
As far as the new bus goes, Its still just as Butt ugly to me as it was as a concept not that the original type-2 made my heart go" pitter-patter", but at least it was kind of cute and has passed the test of time. Why else would you still see a wad of them still on the road restored or un-restored.
I read the Motor Trend thing about BMW attempting to maintain the retro thing with the Mini. I belive that BMW nailed it with the Mini. Its a hell of a little car and at least when you see it coming you know its not its not some knock-off from Korea or the Nips.
Ask Rick Swafford about the "Wonderful" things that VW/ Audi has instore for our pleasure and checkbook.
I still say that VW has lost their way. :(    Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.  If anybody wants to give me a rash over this, bring it on. The forums are getting a little to quite

personally i hate the new concept....doesnt look much like a "bug" to me...ooooo big whoop they kept the roly poly butt.....maybe ima bit biased because i always loved the bugs style and you say "bug" to me i think of a smaller car that you wonder if it rolled over if it would just rock like a turtle on its back cuz its so rounded.

just my 2cents

Belive it or not, I saw just that very "roll-over" thing happen at Brainerd and Moore Rd a long while back. I heard a loud thump and a red '65 Bug came sliding out of S.Moore Rd on its top and stopped in the middle of the inersection rocking like a Turtle. The doors popped open and two good size Chicks crawled out, flipped the Bug back on it wheels , cranked up with a cloud of smoke and roared off down Brainerd Rd before the traffic light changed. The only thing they left behind was a little red paint and broken glass from the O.S. mirrow.  This whole thing didn't take a min. and nobody even had time to open their doors before those Girls were out of there. This is a true story so help me God.

I always wished I had a vidio of that, but there were no such a thing at that point in time for common folks.
I even saw a yellow '70 bug flip a Caddy land float over on its top in front of Eastgate right where we have our club meetings. The Caddy was coming out of Eastgate at a pretty good speed and was leaning over to the right to turn left in front of the Bug. The Bug locked down the brakes and was diving down on the front end and drove under the Caddy at the drivers door flipping the Caddy over on its top. Nobody was hurt and I helped the Bug owner pull his front fenders out and he drove it off after the police were through with him minus front head lights, mangle bumper and a hood that looked the circus fat lady jumped up and down on it for a week.
      Another true story.

No, it looks almost exactly like the drawing for the Iroc, not anywhere near a actual Scirocco. At first I really liked the Iroc; however, lately I don't care if they bring it over or not(which they said us Americans wouldn't want it anyway).

Hmmmm !    After looking at the front end this would be the car a Orthodonist would kill for   I bet it would look cute and mean if it had teeth on that front end. What do you think ?

I think they were intentionally going for a more "smiling" look if I remember the article from the vortex right.
