i rekin there will be a black paint job & red interior

Nope.

Going back original... Two-tone Gray on the outside, Black and White Interior....

Just got the fabric sample from SMS Auto Fabrics yesterday...

They have the correct, NOS Interior Fabric for my seats in stock...  ;D

It's $89 a yard...  :-\

Guess it's a good thing I should only need a couple of yards, the  rest is all vinyl, and that's easy, cheap, and local to get.

Still stripping the paint off the body, on the driver's side now... Amanda was in the garage helping me out with paint removal last night untill after 10 o'clock... mama wants it done as much as me.

I honestly think you should clearcoat the steel and Run It.
Looks great!

Amanda was digging through a  box at a junk shop the other day... I am across the room looking at some books, and she calls over to me and says she has found "MY" box over here... I walk over, and she has found several boxes full of old car emblems and dealer badges, misc. chrome stuff... about then she says "Hey, isn't this one like what you wanted for the Plymouth?", and proceeds to take out an original Autolite brand Mopar Accessory twin strut mirror out  of the box... then she's like "There's another one in here"... $20 later, I had a pair of mirrors for the car in my hand.  They need to be re-chromed, but for that price, who gives a crap???

The two on the right are the ones she found, I already had the other pair, but they didn't match... I will run those while I get these two re-done...

And, further bond and aluminum foil removal... got the forward sections of both fenders removed, and the donor section  tacked in for the drivers side.  The passenger side outer cap is in place, still piecing the inner together.... She's looking a lot better with her new eyebrows....

More work done... moving at a steady pace toward the finish line... just a couple little patches left to make and weld up, but her face lift is done.

Finished getting most of the body into bare metal, started on the roof.

I combined the good remaining section of the headlamp housing with a modified section of the repair panel I found (the '57 and '58 models have a different depth of placement for the headlamp assemblies due to the different dual and quad headlamps) and made a new outer edge for the whole thing.  Got that in place, and made a new outer fender edge.  I bolted up the front panels to align everything so I could weld up the nose.  Starting to look more like a real car again.   8)

A couple of pics, of course....

Got all of my fender mirror and emblem mounting holes measured out and drilled...

Forward repair sections/donor metal seam welded up...

straightening up the right front fender... that's kinda nasty...

Finally, the roof is clear of paint and primer.  That was actually one of the most time consuming things I have done to date on this car.  The roof is very thin, and just a big hollow dome, so it's really easy to deform, so I had to take my time.  Pretty sure I am going to need to apply a rust converter due to all the surface rust... but it looks a LOT better now....  8)

I wish they still made cars with fins...

Less than a month to go for my deadline... less than 6 weeks till the real deadline...

Just give up a little more sleep every night, and I can do it... no problem...  ;D

Got the shell in epoxy primer back on Tuesday....

Working on the fenders right now.

And the UPS guy brought me a super special package yesterday....

After the paint I officially have no money.  I had no idea how much "nice" paint costs these days.  I had always just used the cheaper PPG Shopline stuff for the spot repairs on the VWs.... For the plymouth, I am using PPG Epoxy Primer and their Deltron paint.  Nice stuff... but VERY pricey....  :-[

Mama was in Nashville all weekend, leaving me alone to work on the beast... and work I did, from Friday afternoon to Sunday night.

The weekend work checklist:

- Finished straightening the right front fender, got the filler 90% done in prep for the primer.
- Finished the filler work on the rear quarters, doors, etc... block sanded the repair areas.
- Filled, sanded, primed and painted the rocker sills with the two-tone paint.
- Primed, and painted the right rear door jamb area.
- Re-sprayed the front valance sections in the bright silver.
- Shot the entire body in the second coat of epoxy primer.
- Fixed all the little imperfection stuff with some Glazing Putty.
- Re-installed the fuel tank with the new used j-bolts I bought off of ebay.

Ready now for the lighter gray color.  I'm cutting it pretty close here, but she'll slide in just under the deadline.  Very pleased with the progress.

hahahaha....

nah... I just had it out between rainy spells.  Managed to pull it off without getting all wet.  I  still need to fix my driveway.  The contractor went WAY over budget on the garage build, and it ate up the driveway fund in the end to finish it.  My driveway is currently large chunks of broken bricks covered by treated plywood and bus cargo floor mats.   :D
