^^^^  Funny you should mention that.... The previous owner primed and painted that, but never painted the inside of the air intake.  I never think about it untill I see a photo of it...  :D

One good thing, he did mask off the original Air cleaner instruction sticker prior to painting it.   :)

Finally, body repair!

Gutted the interior.  Pulled the seats, the floor covering, and noise insulation (what's left of that).  Cleaned up the floor, it's in super nice shape.  I did find some concealed damage in the right rear dogleg area.  No biggee, I knew that area was gonna need some extra love.  Got all the nasty stuff cut away, a repair strip made up to fix the rotted floor edge, and I am in the process of piecing the forward half of the rocker now.  once that's in place, I can cut out the damaged area in the rear half of the inner rocker and the floor, then weld up the outer rocker.

The floor:

The damage:

The craptacular repair to the rocker (note the panel that was simply screwed on over the existing rocker):

Yup....

A little update... I have been busy with all the wreck damage, so here's the Cliff's Notes version....

- Rocker, inner and outer, completely cut out, Inner rocker done, save for the forward 12" that I still have some rot to deal with.  Outer rocker is done...

- All wreck damage removed, cut out, new metal in it's place...

- Floor edge, and area under the rear seat done...

- door straightened, gap adjusted...

- Inner wheel arch and forward outer repaired/replaced...

- Forward Section of the rear quarter pulled outward.  (No more 1/2" gap at the door)

- Reamaining 2/3 or more of the quarter that was bowed out from the impact worked back in line, along with the wheel arch lip.

The door now opens smooth (no heavy dragging), and the gaps are all even.  This was definitely the worst part of the car.  From here on out, it's all just easy cheesy small rot repairs and dent and ding stuff.   8)

Now, Zen.. that's not entirely true... more like building a double cab from about 25% of the bent, rusty remnants...  ;D

Don't worry about it Russ.  We are suppose to take it to a body shop because we don't have a clue how to do the job without 10 pounds of Bondo and a ball peen hammer.  Somebody just forgot to tell Grasshopper that he couldn't do the job. I am glad he chose a big float to restore because he can get every tool he owns in the back floor board ;D ;D   OH ! Looking good by the way ;D
