I couldn't take it... so I finally got one!!! I went back today and snagged a 1936 Briggs and Stratton. The deal was hard to beat! Now I'm in the club!
The two nicest engines were still there when we left this afternoon. The sale runs through Tuesday at 4:00 PM and the prices get cheaper each day. I didn't think to write down the brands of these two engines, but they are big ones and look to be ready run and show with just a little cleaning and polishing. One was priced at $825 and the other was around a grand. They should be cheaper tomorrow. If you want to get into the antique engine scene, here's your chance.
Saw Zen there too. He wasn't happy with them giving him that motor, so he drove back to pay for what he "bought" yesterday.
I wasn't paying attention when Joy paid for all her junk, but I did hear her question the lady twice about whether or not she had rang up the engine. After we left, Joy ask me how much the engine was . . . I told her . . . then how did the total end up $50 bucks less than the cost of the engine? After going over all of our purchases and the receipt when we got home, it was pretty obvious that we paid the correct price for everything Joy and Franny bought, but they didn't charge us for the engine. I like the idea of a free engine, but I gott'a sleep at night.
