2004 Stella Scooter

« on: February 12, 2013, 01:26:19 AM »
As many of you may know, I sold my dirt bike to a Russian on craigslist. I went home and found another toy... a 2004 Genuine Scooter Co. Stella. Its a remake of Vespa's PX150 from the 70s. It was a pretty good deal! I checked with Jen at Scenic City Scooters and she vouched for the owner and the scooter saying that their mechanic had done all the work on it and that it was indeed a great scooter. It had a few scrapes and scratches, but I would probably do that anyways! I went and struck a deal and loaded it up. THIS THING IS SWEET!

4 speed shiftie scooter (left hand clutch- left hand grip shifter)
150cc 2 stroke oil injected air cooled engine
All metal body
Electric and kick start
~80mpg

Its a fun little ride, but starting out is a little hairy. Letting the clutch out in first tends to make it pop a wheelie pretty good. I think I need to adjust some things!

I remember seeing a lot of these little scooters popping up back in the Cushman, Whizzer, Mustang days only they Vespa's, Allstate(Piaiggio????) They were pretty reliable little rides. They could outrun everything but a Mustang. It took a Harley and some British bikes to outrun a Mustang on the top end.

I looked at his Bajaj Chetak when Scenic City had it. seemed like it was a great price, but I hadn't sold my dirt bike yet. I was really excited about that one and sad that I missed it. But, I am glad that this one popped up because its pretty sweet. Pretty peppy and tons of fun. I just have to figure out how to keep the front wheel on the ground...

You only need the front wheel in the turns anyway.
