New Bora V5 Problems - Anyone facing problems with the new V5

« on: November 12, 2002, 03:30:06 AM »
Hi Everyone,

Five month ago I bought a new 2002 VW Bora V5. I loved it till it with a few problems that I was told would be fixed in the 1000 km Service :( . This is acceptable. Any car needs some time to run in and work up the engine.

I took it after the 1000KM service and the car is still giving me a lot of problems. I was told un-officialy that VW have a lot of problems with the V5 range in particular. Also that my complaints are exactly the same as everyone elses.

I am wondering if anyone is facing the same problems I am facing... ???

1 - Fuel Meter is crazy. If you kick-down the fuel meter goes down by an eights of the tank and will eventually come back up after maybe 5 - 10 min.

2 - On low speeds there is an obvious vibration in the engine

3 - The engine noise is reltivly high ( I owned a BMW before and an Audi so I know how german cars sound )

4 - When at traffic lights. I get the occasional jitter and the fuel consumptions goes up to way over 5 - 6 l/hr and then it goes back to normal on its own.

It is very strange that VW make a car and it is like this. It is also very annoying to buy a brand new car and face these kind of problems.

Any comments ??? !!!

Well, we've certainly had enough similiar little irritating problems with our New Beetles in the club.  One of our members has a new Jetta (Bora), but I'm not sure how it's treating them.
