Bosch Parts

« on: November 27, 2015, 09:57:56 AM »
I just got word from one of my contacts on the west coast that Bosch will/has stopped making the 09001 spark plug wire set and the earlier 2 piece point sets. If anyone has more information, please share.

I have nothing confirmed, but the early Bosch air-cooled inventories are most certainly drying up at the parts distributors we buy from here at the shop.

As a side note, however, the set of Ignition wires my boss just bought for his '67 Beetle were actually German made plug wires that looked dead-on for stock OE VW plug wires they sold years ago, as opposed to the Mexico-made Bosch wires.  And they were cheaper to boot.

But, yes.  I am afraid those days are upon us.  Start saying goodbye to all the good stuff, and hello to Chinese made, second-rate stuff.

I have confirmed it with a 45 minute phone conversation with Bosch.

The harsh reality is that they are making way more money off of components for big steaming piles like the ones I deal with every day than these old cars.  I guess it was inevitable that they would cease production on this old stuff.

Now I shall go in the corner, and cry softly.

I hate that the good Bosch is going away. Those spark plug wire sets with carbon inside just are not that great. I stocked up on some stuff but I have some ignition parts from Bremi that is actually German made. Going to try them.
