About to buy Maxi Taxi

« on: June 23, 2013, 09:25:18 AM »
Well, after selling two buggy projects that I could never get working on, I think my wife is sold on another buggy.
As long as it is complete and ready to roll!
I'll go for that but what she has found is a Maxi Taxi in St Clairsville, Ohio.

http://wheeling.craigslist.org/cto/3796940716.html

She wants a four seater, preferably full length pan, and a roof, either soft or hard.
That leaves out a lot of nicer prospects closer to home and less money.
The seller is asking $7,500. The Maxi Taxi looks clean and well done but I would want some nicer wheels and a few other minor details if we bought it.

Any opinions on the price for this one?

Anybody know of any local buggies that are available?

I saw Asbug has the Allison on The Samba. Unfortunately I can not sell her on it but I have found a full length Allison with a roof in Demorest, GA. Unfortunately the seller has not responded to any of my inquiries.

I've been trying to tell her that, but...
A woman wants what a woman wants!

We are in Lexington, KY right now.

Just bought a different Maxi Taxi from just outside of Louisville, KY.
It has a hard and soft top, side curtains, and of course four seats on a full pan. Just needs a few touches to make it all right.

Could possibly drive it home but, to be safe, were pulling it home with the tow bar he let go with it.

We did get a call back from the guy with the full pan Allison down in GA., but we were already on our way up here.

I think she's going to be happy for a while.

Stayed a few days in Townsend, TN and ate at The Carriage House next to the upcoming location of SummerJam5. A few people mentioned the VW show coming to the Talley Ho Inn while we were there.

Had a great bite to eat in Wears Valley at Moonshine Ridge cafe. Highly recommended!

I would love to make it, although it is up to my wife since it is her buggy.
She still has not driven it. I think the loud, open duals scare her a bit.
I'm still trying to figure what to replace them with.
This thing is louder than a Harley!
